ACCA Registration Guidelines: Documents, Exemptions & Important Checks

by Career CompassAugust 21, 20262 min read

Registering for ACCA can be straightforward when your documents are accurate and complete. However, small errors—especially in names, dates of birth, and email addresses—can create unnecessary problems during the registration process.

This guide covers the key points to keep in mind before submitting your ACCA registration and the documents required for different exemption categories.

Important Checks Before Registration

Before uploading your documents, carefully verify the following:

  • Keep your name exactly the same across all documents. The spelling should match letter by letter.

  • Check your father's name and surname carefully. There should be no spelling mismatch between documents.

  • Date of birth (DOB) must be mentioned in the required document.

  • An address is not mandatory on the ID proof.

  • Enter your email address carefully. The email ID cannot be changed later, so even a minor mistake should be avoided.

  • Claim exemption fee waivers or discounts at the time of registration. Future exemptions will not receive the same discount.

  • Submit a hard-copy marksheet. Online marksheets will not be accepted.

  • If required, your college or university should provide a bonafide certificate.

  • After completing the registration process, your myACCA account should become active within approximately 5–7 working days.

These checks are especially important because document mismatches can affect the smooth processing of your registration.

Documents Required for ACCA Registration

The documents you need depend on your educational background and the number of exemptions you are claiming.

1. Students With No Exemptions

For students who have passed 10th/12th and are registering without exemptions, the required documents are:

  • 10th or 12th marksheet

  • One ID proof, such as:

    • Aadhaar

    • Passport

    • Driving licence

    • Birth certificate

2. B.Com Students — 5 Papers Exemption

For B.Com students eligible for five paper exemptions, keep the following ready:

  • 12th marksheet

  • B.Com marksheets

  • B.Com degree certificate, if you have completed your bachelor's degree

  • One ID proof

3. B.Com + CA Inter — 6/7 Papers Exemption

Students claiming exemptions based on B.Com and CA Inter should prepare:

  • 12th marksheet

  • B.Com marksheet

  • B.Com degree certificate, if the bachelor's degree is completed

  • CA Inter marksheets

  • One ID proof

4. CA Certified — 9 Papers Exemption

For CA-certified candidates, the required documents include:

  • 12th marksheet

  • CA marksheets

  • CA certificate

  • One ID proof

Your name should match across the relevant marksheets and documents.

5. CMA With More Than 5 Years of Experience — 7 Papers Exemption

Candidates claiming seven papers of exemption based on CMA qualification and more than five years of experience should prepare:

  • 12th marksheet

  • CMA marksheets

  • CMA certificate of membership

  • Experience letters

  • One ID proof

The name on the ID proof should match the name appearing on the marksheets.

6. BBA — 1 Paper Exemption

For BBA candidates eligible for one paper exemption, the required documents are:

  • 12th marksheet

  • BBA marksheets and degree certificate

  • One ID proof

Again, make sure your name matches the name on your marksheets.

Final ACCA Registration Checklist

Before submitting your registration, take a few minutes to review everything:

  • Name matches across documents

  • Father's name/surname is spelled correctly

  • Date of birth is mentioned where required

  • Email address has been entered correctly

  • Hard-copy marksheets are available

  • Correct exemption category has been identified

  • All documents for your qualification are ready

  • Exemption fee waiver/discount is claimed during registration, if applicable

  • Bonafide certificate is available if required

Conclusion

ACCA registration becomes much easier when you prepare the correct documents in advance and check every personal detail carefully. The most important things to remember are consistent names, correct personal information, hard-copy marksheets, and submitting exemption-related claims during registration itself.

Once the registration process is completed, allow approximately 5–7 working days for your myACCA account to become active.
