It covers ethics, equity investments, fixed income, derivatives, portfolio management, corporate finance, and financial reporting — skills sought by investment banks, asset managers, and research firms worldwide.
To earn the CFA charter, you must pass all three levels of the CFA exam (Level I, II, and III), complete 4,000 hours of qualified work experience over a minimum of three years, submit reference letters, and become a regular member of the CFA Institute.

Anyone with a bachelor's degree (in any stream) is eligible. Final-year students within 23 months of graduation, and candidates with 4,000 hours of professional work experience (or combined education + experience) can also register for Level I.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or being within 23 months of completing one) is the minimum requirement to sit for Level I. The charter is awarded only after the degree is conferred.
No work experience is required to begin the course or appear for Level I. However, 4,000 hours of qualified investment-decision-making experience (over at least three years) is required to be awarded the CFA charter after passing all three levels.
